Research in Rudolf Schubert's group focuses on the function of the circulatory system in health and disease. Research is concentrating on the following areas:

- Diversity of the functions of ion channels, especially potassium channels, in the circulatory system of various organs (organotypic determination)
- Plasticity of arterial contractility mechanisms under physiological (postnatal remodeling) and pathophysiological (e.g. diabetes) conditions and the regulation of these processes
