Our group regularly offers master courses in advanced topics of probability (usually modules MTH-2700, MTH-2708). Master students should be aware that?Stochastic Processes?(MTH-1760) is the core modul in probability at the master level.?
Occasionally, we also offer advanced topics courses at the bachelor level (module MTH-2705, MTH-2709).?
Here is a list of current and former specialised courses of our group:?
We read several chapters in the book "Statistical Mechanics of Lattice Systems" by Friedli and Velenik, covering the mathematical theory of Gibbs measures.
Stochastic Modelling of Complex Systems (MTH-1785) - WiSe 24/25 - Stefan Gro?kinsky We use and extend the theory of stochastic processes (MTH-1670) to introduce and analyze several stochastic models of complex systems, including the classical Ising model and other spin systems, the contact process as a basic model of infectious dynamics and the exclusion process describing basic transport phenomena of interacting particles.
Advanced Discrete Probability?- WiSe 23/24 - Markus Heydenreich Markov chains and mixing times, random walks via electrical network theory, percolation theory and Erd?s-Rényi random graphs?
