The lecture provides an introduction to the fundamental technologies, protocols, and network components used in the field of digital communication technology and the Internet across various layers of the OSI model. The emphasis is on the practical application of these technologies, serving as preparation for the exercises. In the exercises, students will work in small groups on their own hardware testbed, learning to independently deploy internet technologies and configure network components at different OSI layers, such as switches and routers.
