At the Institute of Physics of the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology of the 伟德国际_伟德国际1946$娱乐app游戏 of Augsburg, at the Chair of Experimental Physics I (Prof. Dr. Jan Lipfert) is looking to fill two positions as part of the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Actions EU doctoral program MeChaNiSM as soon as possible as a

PhD student (m/f/d)

The full time positions are for a period of three years. Remuneration will be paid within the framework stipulated in the grant agreement by means of an EU researcher employment contract.

The MeChaNiSM (“Mechanical Characterization of Nucleic acids using Single Molecule techniques”) doctoral program is part of the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). Nucleic acids are central to the storage, transfer and regulation of genetic information and play important roles in biotechnological and biomedical applications, such as CRISPR/Cas and mRNA vaccines. Single-molecule techniques have significantly improved our understanding of these fascinating molecules and their interactions with therapeutic agents. To address new medical challenges and strengthen Europe's competitiveness, the MeChaNiSM project aims to train a new generation of scientists in single-molecule biophysics with a focus on nucleic acids.

Your profile:

  • Master's degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, biology or a related discipline, preferably with experience in biophysics.
  • Research interest in the field of experimental and theoretical biophysics with particular interest in single molecule methods, fluorescence, and structure, mechanics, modifications and function of DNA and RNA.
  • Well-structured and organized working style, initiative and enthusiasm for research
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Candidates may be of any nationality but must be internationally mobile (i.e. moving from one country to another) at the time of taking up the position.
