Ibero-Romance Cultural Studies (M.A.)
Study content:
The research-oriented Master's program "Ibero-Romance Cultural Studies" (IRK) is aimed at students who want to broaden their horizons to include the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America in an international study environment. In addition to Spanish- and Portuguese-language media and socio-cultures, the course focuses on transatlantic relations between Europe, the Americas, and Africa, which are examined from both historical and contemporary perspectives, including (post-)colonial and (trans-)areal aspects.

- Bachelor's degree or comparable degree
An above-average first degree qualifying for a profession, either in Germany or abroad, with at least 60 credit points from a philology such as Ibero-Romance Studies, Hispanic Studies, Lusitanian Studies, Latin American Studies, Comparative Literature, etc., History, in particular Iberian and Latin American History, Ethnology, Political Sciences or from other subjects such as European and Latin American Studies or (Trans-]Area Studies, the contents of which are comparable to the above.
An above-average degree is given if the applicant, with the overall grade achieved on the basis of the examination regulations of the undergraduate degree program, belongs to the best 50 out of 100 of the graduates of the respective examination year; proof is provided by a confirmation of the responsible examination authority. This proof is deemed to have been provided if the overall grade is 2.5 or better.
? - If the certificate (No. 1) is not available, proof of the examination results achieved in this degree programme (at least 140 credits), the average grade achieved in the process, the number of credit points included in the calculation of the average grade, as well as the number of credit points required for the completion of the corresponding degree programme must be enclosed (Transcript of Records). The Bachelor's degree (or similar) (No. 1) must be proven by the end of the semester following the first enrollment in the Master's degree programme.

Proof of knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese must also be provided by second or native speakers if they apply with a German university degree or a German university entrance qualification, and can be demonstrated by a relevant (foreign language) philological degree - e.g. Ibero-Romance Studies, Hispanic Studies, Lusitanian Studies as a major subject (or as a minor subject: at least 60 LP in the respective language) - or if a degree from a university from the respective language area is available.
Proof of language skills must be available at the time of enrolment at the latest.
