Vom 15. bis 18. Juli 2025 l?dt die Graduiertenschule für Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften zum internationalen und interdisziplin?ren Symposium ?Connection.Points: Intertwined and interconnected“ ein. Forscherinnen und Forscher aus Europa diskutieren interdisziplin?re, vernetzte Ans?tze zu aktuellen globalen Themen und entwickeln neue Perspektiven für zukünftige L?sungen.

In their 1976 published chapter ?Rhizom“ Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari challenge traditional hierarchical structures of knowledge, advocating for a rhizomatic-model of thought that embraces multiplicity, diversity, and non-linearity: “A rhizome ceaselessly establishes connections between semiotic chains, organizations of power, and circumstances relative to the arts, sciences, and social struggles.”

Especially in our times of multiple crises and global challenges, the exploration of multidirectional connections and entanglements seems to be more important than ever. Just as a rhizome creates connections that are not limited to a single form, direction or path, and challenges traditional epistemic structures, the interdisciplinary exploration of ‘connection points’ and interconnections encourages us to think across disciplinary boundaries in order to gain new approaches and insights.

In 2025, the Graduate School for Humanities and Social Sciences of the 伟德国际_伟德国际1946$娱乐app游戏 of Augsburg together with the European Network "Euro.Cultural.Connect" invites postdocs (and advanced predocs) in the humanities and social sciences to explore complex interdisciplinary, methodological, and theoretical interconnections under the theme “Connection.Points: Intertwined and Interconnected”. The international symposium will concentrate on current multi-perspective, multi-directional, interdisciplinary and transnational topics and theories, and explore how these approaches shape our understanding of complex social, cultural, philosophical and historical phenomena. By analyzing the connecting lines we aim to engage in the search for future solutions to interconnected problems.

?

Four keynote speeches (Prof. Dr Reine Meylaerts (KU Leuven, Belgium), Prof. Dr Burcu Dogramaci (LMU Munich, Germany), Dr Hanne De Jaegher (伟德国际_伟德国际1946$娱乐app游戏 of Sussex, UK), Prof. Dr Reinhard Hennig (Agder 伟德国际_伟德国际1946$娱乐app游戏, Norway)) will open the respective conference days. They will provide the impetus for an interdisciplinary examination of multidirectionally linked, complex topics, theories and methods.
